Samsung mobile innovation: a new opportunity for Flash Lite developers

Samsung released a new portal for Samsung S60 mobile developers. The portal is currently in beta testing and it will officially start in late October, but many technical resources are already available.
In October the portal will open access to further resources and services designed to make it easier to get applications and games onto Samsung S60 devices. The portal enables developers to test Samsung S60 contents with the ‘Lab.dev‘ and to ask for technical support or to partecipate in the discussion boards with the ‘Ask.dev’ service. The registrated developers will also be able to submit business proposals using the ‘Market.dev‘. In this way they can monetize and insert their S60 contents in the Samsung marketplace Fun Club, which will be extended to Symbian S60 contents in 2009.
The seven Samsung S60 devices support many technologies and runtime environments including C++, Java, Flash Lite, Python, and Web Run-Time browser widgets. So the portal will support all these technologies.
After the Forum Nokia, I think Samsung mobile innovation is a good opportunity for Flash Lite developers.

[From Mark Doherty]
Sony Ericsson has released the SWF2JAR packaging tool for Project Capuchin enabled phones.
Sony Ericsson’s Project Capuchin technology is a Java ME API that bridges the Java ME and Adobe Flash Lite programming environments.
Unfortunately, for the moment there is only one device that supports the Capuchin technology: the C905.
Here for the download from Sony Ericsson Developer site.

On Friday I’m holding a Boston Adobe Mobile and Device User Group e-seminar: ‘Flash Lite content – games and applications – from concept to cash’.
The e-seminar will tell you how to approach content creation and launch and get to cashing in alternative, independent ways.
I will analyze:
- Promises and expectations, theories and best practices
- Implementation and launch of content and service
- Impact of usual models and complex value chains on contents and services
- End-to-end view
- Alternative and “casual Biz” models
- The independent way.
More details here. After the e-seminar I’ll put the slides on my blog.
